Waiting

I wasn't planning on blogging today.  And then he drew this.  It's a robot.  (He has a thing for robots.  Draws them everywhere.)  Waiting.  Under mistletoe.  For his special girl.  How cute is that!  A, I love my little man so much.  When asked if he had a special girl, he answered yes.  "Lilia."  Come on.  My hear may have tweaked just a little.  Now, please don't think that I've been telling him all about girls and girlfriends and liking this, that and the other person and everything that entails.  I haven't.  I believe there is time enough for that.  He'll figure that part of life out without any help from us. But I'm getting to see it happen naturally.  He likes this girl because she's nice.  That's it.  But I'm getting a glimpse of the future, of the young man he will be.  And it's exciting.  Don't get me wrong.  I love the 6 year old boy.  Part of me doesn't want him to grow up.  But another part of me can't wait to meet the young man.

Here's to all those waiting under the mistletoe.

  1. So sweet. Lovely sentiments. My heart aches at the thought of my boy growing up...but I agree, I can't wait to meet the young man he becomes. xo

  2. i haven't told ezra much about growing up and falling in love either, but he has heard fairy tales to that end - thumbelina, cinderella, the princess and the pea... i just wrote a post today about how he said he loved these girls that he met today, but i think he just truly felt love for them in his heart as he would have had they been boys. every so often it crosses my mind that one day he will be grown up and have a wife of his own someday. i hope we all get along and that he will forever be a part of my life! there are robots in my other friend's blog today too - check them out - super cute: http://the-buckles.blogspot.com/2010/12/little-robots.html

  3. Aww, that is so sweet :) I can't imagine my boys or my daughter growing up either but it is so special to catch those little moments when you can see their unique personalities shine through and peak at what the future might bring :) My oldest is 11 and some days that future seems to be rushing at me quicker than I would like *grin*. Enjoy the rest of your week :)

  6. Awww, very nice. I have 3 girls so I miss out on the boy stuff, but this summer a little 9 year old classmate of my daughter's called her and asked her to the movies. His mom was going too, of course. I wouldn't let her go, Grade 4 is too soon for that stuff. I've since met the fellow, he's sweet, I heard he would randomly give my daughter flowers, one day she wouldn't take them and later she caught him crying. Awww, bless his little boy heart. I wonder what the child raising on the boy side is like? Yours sounds like a little sweetie.
