Still Counting the Days

We are, of course, still counting down the days to the Big Day.  In fact, last night, Quinnie was awake from 2:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. because he couldn't stop thinking about Christmas.  I thought it was rather cute the first couple of times he came into our room.  After two hours, it lost its cuteness and, well, I'd rather not talk about it.  I did make a large pot of coffee this morning though.

I've been trying to incorporate  Christmas crafts and activities into our advent calendar this year with some success.  My little guy is not always interested in crafting but gladly eats the chocolates.  Although my oldest could craft all day, at the end of the school day, he doesn't always have the energy or focus.  The one thing they have agreed on is decorating the tree.  We got our tree Saturday and trimmed it early Sunday morning.

A successful Christmas craft -- needle felted ornaments.

Keegan has been wanting to try needle felting for months and I finally got up the nerve to give it a try.  With the help of a cookie cutter, it was quite easy and, most importantly, painless.

The boys are not the only ones who were excited by the arrival of the tree and the many swinging, jingling, hanging trinkets associated with the tree.

  1. Lovely tree. Our kitty loves it too. :)

Oh, poor Mama. It is so hard being up in the night and then be expected to function in the morning. I'm not a coffee drinker, but wonder if it might just help me get through on some days. I hope you get a good rest tonight. xo

  2. hehehe... i had to laugh at your first paragraph. it is all too familiar to all the moms out there isn't it? we hype it up so much, not just at home, but it's everywhere all over the world, no wonder kids get overwhelmed. i wonder how ezra will deal with all the presents this year. last year he just wanted to play with each one and didn't get through the pile until the next day. i've been tempted to do a different kind of opening presents routine - like the 12 days of christmas - but, he even forgets to open his advent bags. but, he talks about santa all the time. today was the last time i think i will take him to the toy store before the big day. he said after seeing anything he wanted, "we better tell santa..." i kept having to say "well okay, but remember santa can't get everything." christmas can be trouble! lol... i think i'm ranting on your comment section. sorry tara. it's just that's what i think when our kids can't stop talking about santa or even sleep at night because they're so excited! still it's fun isn't it? i love playing santa....

  3. Poor you...I'd be sneaking in a nap this afternoon if you can. ;-)
    Your tree looks so festive!

Gotta love cats and Christmas trees...I had one many, many years ago, attempt to climb to the top and knock the whole thing over...SMASH!! After that...no more glass ornaments for me!
