A Little Extra Jolt

The adventures of Claire and Jamie have been keeping me up far too late the last few nights.

Waking up a little more bleary eyed than usual has inspired two new batches of soap: coffee and citrus squeeze.  I'm hoping they will provide that little extra jolt on those mornings following a good book.  The coffee soap was made with good strong coffee with coffee grounds for a little exfoliation.  It smells like a great big cup of coffee.  The citrus squeeze soap is actually a salt soap.  I've added fine sea salt to the soap and is scented with lemon and orange essential oils.  Have I mentioned I like to make soap?

I think I'm going to try some kind of chai tea soap next.

  3. This post reminds me of Claire making soap in later books! But I think she used sunflower oil, not coffee and citrus :o)

  4. Yum...your soaps seriously sound like they smell too good to use...they sound more like a snack to me!

I like both the ideas of coffee grounds and salt for exfoliation. Are they listed up in your shop yet? Gonna have to go take a peek.

p.s. thanks for the heads up on the "Karl" books...had no idea those existed...def going to check those out.

    Have a great afternoon!

  5. chai tea soap. . . sounds wonderful. Actually, though I don't like the taste of coffee, I do like the smell. So citrus and coffee sound good, too. Love these clean posts:)

  11. I still look at actors and think, oh, he would make a great Jaime when they turn the books into movies. The actor who is in the new Jane Eyre movie might work. I think his name is Michael Fassbender (too lazy to check at the moment).

Which one is your favorite of the books?

  12. BTW, Diana Gabaldon signed one of my books at a Highland games in Arizona, and she looks just like I imagine Claire would look. She has that quietly observant look that Claire must have--looking at the world and taking it all in with a slightly amused expression.
