Why Can't I?

I can sense it happening, quickly moving towards the inevitable.  The set mouth.  The clenched hands.  The realization that things are not going to go as planned.  But it's not one of them.  it's me.

I want to scream.  I want to growl.  Yes, growl to show my displeasure.  I want things to go my way.  Why can't I have a tantrum?  Although socially unacceptable (and for very good reasons), there is a certain cathartic appeal to one.  Instead, I become silent.  I breathe deeply.  I may even step around the corner for a moment. Then it is back to getting little bodies ready for the outdoors.  Eventually, I accept the new plan for the day.  Time helps.  Writing helps.

So does chocolate frosting.

  1. Oh, yes, my dear. Frosting does help! Time, writing and sugar are a deadly combo for frustration!

  3. The chocolate helps most of all! I admire you for not having a tantrum, sometimes I wonder which of us is worse me or my kids. 9 times out of 10 I walk away or stay calm but on the 10th time...

I think snow suits were invented to drive mums mad ; )

  4. That blue is beautiful!
Yes, I've had my moments. . . worse than my daughters, sadly. Walking away for the moment and chocolate=great solution:)

  5. Sometimes I wish I could just through a mommy sized tantrum and lay on the ground kicking and screaming like my four year old does on occasion *grin*. I definitely agree that frosting or anything sweet helps! Snow suit season will end soon enough and then it will be wrangling children in and out of wet bathing suits LOL. Have a wonderful weekend :)

  6. Get a big fluffy pillow, hold it to your face and SCREAM!! as loud as you can. Works for me. Chocolate frosting doesn't hurt either.
